It must be removed before the new cover can be fitted.
After you have removed the old cover Once you have removed the old cover, use a flathead screwdriver to pull out the four major attachment clips on the passenger side of the fob assembly. These are marked with red in the image below. Be aware of the yellow locating tabs that have to be deactivated.
Replace the battery with a #CR2032 coin cell battery. Make sure that the "+" positive side of the battery corresponds to the opening of the fob and that the"-" negative side is facing the buttons made of rubber.
Reattach the passenger side mirror cover by aligning the locating tabs. Once you've done that place the fob that's on the driver's side back into your vehicle and test it. Press the push button located on the back of the key. If everything works correctly your car will turn on the parking lights and your doors will automatically lock.
